Partout dans le monde, là où des communes à court d´argent cherchent des crédits, les géants mondiaux de l´eau, Veolia et Suez, frappent à la porte. Ces 10 dernières années, Veolia a réussi, à elle seule, à prendre le contrôle de l´eau ou des participations dans plus de 460 communes allemandes.
« Veolia Wasser » est à l´heure actuelle le premier fournisseur d´eau en Allemagne. La situation est identique en Pologne, dans les républiques baltes, Lettonie, Estonie, Lituanie, en Tchéquie, en Slovaquie, en Italie, en Espagne, aux USA et en Chine où Veolia proclame régulièrement la signature de nouveaux contrats.
L’ irrésistible expansion des privatiseurs mondiaux de l´eau ?
Même les géants mondiaux de l´eau peuvent être stoppés ! ils ont déjà à Paris, au cœur de leur puissance, une plaie béante et dangereuse. En France, dans leur pays d´origine, là où Veolia et Suez fournissent l´eau de 8 habitants sur 10, de nombreuses communes remettent en cause leur domination. Les reproches vont de l´opacité à la mauvaise qualité de l´eau, aux hausses de prix permanentes et aux abus de situation dominante. Les communes ont beaucoup de mal à contrôler si les prix facturés correspondent bien aux travaux effectués. Les milliards de redevances payés pour la remise en état des canalisations ont-ils vraiment été utilisés à cet effet ? L´argent de l´eau des communes françaises n´a-t-elle pas financé l´expansion mondiale de Veolia et Suez ?
Une plaie béante au cœur de l´empire
Paris et plus de cent communes francaises ont décidé de reprendre le contrôle de ce service vital. Lorsque les contrats avec Veolia et Suez arriveront à échéance, l´approvisionnement en eau retournera en régie publique. À Paris les contrats viennent à échéance en 2009. Après cette date l´eau appartiendra de nouveau aux Parisiens.

Everyday, all over the world, the privatization of water - the foundation of our lives - goes on. The French global players Veolia and Suez are announcing that they are gaining ground almost daily, luring people with promises of superior technique, reliability and affordable financing. However, in France, Veolia’s headquarters, fewer and fewer people believe them.
The new film “Water makes money”, from the authors Leslie Franke and Hermann Lorenz, the team behind the film “H2O up for sale”, will shed light on the devastating consequences of the glorified expansion of Veolia and Suez. Using France as an example, it will show that putting an end to the commercialization of the elixir water is possible!

The global water giants Veolia & Suez are knocking on doors anywhere in the world where communities are struggling to make ends meet. In Germany alone Veolia has managed to fully or in part take over the water supplies of 460 cities over the past 10 years. Veolia Water is now the biggest water supplier in Germany. The same thing goes for Poland, the Baltic States, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Rumania, Italy, Spain and the USA. And now Veolia is also expanding in China, announcing the signing of new contracts almost daily.
The unstoppable expansion of a world water privatization corporation?
Even the world’s largest water giants can be stopped! There is a gaping wound in the heart of its power; Paris. In its home country France, where Veolia & Co are supplying 8 out of 10 citizens with water, several municipalities are questioning their leadership. Non-transparency, continual price increases, bad quality of water and the misuse of monopoly are key accusations. The municipalities are having difficulty controlling whether the prices on the invoices actually correspond with what is provided? Are the billions that have been paid in fees toward maintenance of the infrastructure and the pipelines actually used for that purpose? Isn’t the enormous expansion of Veolia & Suez financed by the price increases in the French communities?
A striking blow to the heart of their Power.
The Capitol Paris along with more than a hundred French municipalities have decided to take back control over these vital services. When the contracts with Veolia & Suez expire, the supplying of water is to be nationalized. In Paris the contracts with Veolia and Suez end in 2009. After that the supplying of water will once again be in the hands of the Parisians.
A Film by the people.
The film “Water makes money” will bring this current and explosive development to the forefront. It will show what Paris and other French communities have learned as a result of the exploitation of Veolia & Co., and how they have managed to take back control of the water supply. Examples from Europe and the US will also contribute to making the film a learning experience for the whole world! And it will generate courage: Water in the hands of the citizens is possible!
